  • Pre-appointment

    Prior to your appointment a questionnaire is completed and returned to the clinic. This questionnaire allows Dr Jensen and Dr Eddy to better understand your needs. It also allows them to determine your clinical urgency and triage appointments accordingly.

  • First Appointment

    Please bring along all your recent scans (X-ray, MRI and CT scans) and test results. On the day, you will meet with Megan or Steve. Appointments typically last for 40 minutes and will allow them to conduct a comprehensive medical assessment that will include understanding the history of your pain, what you do for work, your psychological and familial history. People with persistent pain often comment on how many areas of their life have been affected and this is an important aspect that Western Pain Group address. Persistent pain by its very nature is complex and takes time to resolve, this combined with unforeseen emergencies can occasionally cause delays for which Megan and Steve sincerely apologise. The team at Western Pain Group will to their best to keep you informed with regards to any lengthy delays.

  • Next Steps

    Once your assessment is completed Megan or Steve will map out a management pathway with you, this will include an initial explanation or an improved understanding of your pain. Pain management usually has several components and can include all or some of the following:

    • Further investigation (imaging, blood tests, and diagnostic injections)
    • Discussion with other stakeholders such as your GP, psychologist, physical therapist etc.
    • Medication assessment and rationalisation
    • Injection treatment – depending on treatment type will be performed in rooms or day procedure
    • Education, exercise therapy/rehabilitation. Western Pain Group work with a network of allied health professionals and refer as required.
  • Fees

    In most cases Medicare rebates are available. Should your visit relate to a current Workers Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance (TAC) claim the fee may be covered by your insurer. At your initial appointment you will be required to cover the consultation fee, this may be reimbursed by your insurer, though an out of pocket expense may occur. Subsequent visits will be charged direct to the insurer once WPG has received written approval.  

    Western Pain Group appreciate account settlement on the day of appointment.

  • Cancellations

    Western Pain Group work with a long waitlist, should you need to cancel your appointment, please contact the clinic as soon as possible so they can offer your appointment to another patient. Given that the clinic and clinicians time is valuable, cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment without notice may incur a cancellation fee equal to the consultation fee. This will be an out of pocket expense.

    Limited parking is available at the rear of 5 Stanlake Street. Alternatives include the ticketed parking area at 4-6 Stanlake Street (opposite) or on-street 2 hour ticketed parking; coins only or EasyPark app.

    410 Sunshine Station (Footscray via Ballarat Road) disembark at Eleanor Street/Ballarat Road stop. The clinic is a 400m walk from this stop.
    223 Yarraville – Highpoint Shopping Centre disembark at Eleanor Street/Ballarat Road stop. The clinic is a 400m walk from this stop.
    216 Sunshine Station – Brighton Beach disembark at Everard Street/Essex Street stop. The clinic is a 550m walk from this stop.
    219 Sunshine South – Gardenvale disembark at Everard Street/Essex Street stop. The clinic is a 600m walk from this stop.
    82 Moonee Ponds – Footscray disembark at stop 58 Ballarat Road/Gordon Street. The clinic is an 800m walk from this stop.
